Here's pictures of Charlotte and me! New helmet bought on Friday has pink and orange butterflies. Spent my grocery money on a helmet - where have my priorities gone! Oh well, I've got food in my cupboard - although I would prefer not to eat it.
In a way she is a hybrid. We found her abandoned and since nobody claimed her, her previous owner was likely in no shape to be riding a bicycle. She was in a known drug/alcohol consumption area and was unrideable when we claimed her.
So, I stripped her down completely, cleaned her up and put all new components on her (with guidance from Jerry). She's a steel Raleigh frame (in amazing condition), road tires, mountain bike style handle bars (cut exactly to my measurements) and single gear. I had never done anything like that before and I think it gives me extra pride in my accomplishment whenever I ride her.
She's light and very fast. You lose the advantage on hills but she's an ideal commuter bike. Single gear has little maintenance and doesn't have freezing/ice gear issues in winter. I also have a water bottle cage rigged up to carry my coffee in the morning!
Eventually, there are improvements I'd like to do - different braking system, carbon fibre fork, fabulous paint job but I'm in no rush. She's such the cutie already and I love riding her.

What is Charolette- spelling I know? She looks like a hybrid.
