So, this morning, I looked at my fish bowl and found my snail! S/he had climbed so far into the shell during the transfer I couldn't see it. So, didn't kill the snail. The little fish floating upside down recovered and is doing fine. The other strong fish died.
Now it's a matter of "Am I such a bad parent that I couldn't tell my snail is alive" or "It's a good thing I'm lazy and didn't remove the snail from the bowl or I would have killed it."
