Sunburnt Nose

Hello Everyone,

We had a riding adventure yesterday and my nose ended up getting a sunburn. Our goal was to reach Balzac, a community close to Calgary that is about 24 km from home. Between detours, construction and gravel roads, we only made it to 20 km. So, we toured around suburbia and went to the Lilac Festival later in the day. The festival was very crowded and a lot more venders than organization booths.

Training is slowly coming along. I'm going to start doing Wednesday rides to Cochrane for the practise. We've also figured out our super long rides. One will be Calgary - Cochrane - Bragg Creek - Calgary (common training ride) and our super major one will be Calgary to Banff. Once we reach Canmore, there's a new pathway linking it to Banff that we've been wanting to check out. It's 110 km to Banff but Jerry says it's a pretty ride. It's uphill going there so the return (which makes the ride over my training guide) is supposedly quick. We also have crazy west winds. It'll be a really good judge to see if I'm ready for the Gran Fondo.

We bring the rest of the plants out to the garden this coming Saturday. I need to pick up twine for the tomatoes but everything else is ready to go. With all the crazy rain last week, I was unable to plant the potatoes but I hope to in the next couple days.

Jerry has applied to SAIT for a welding program. It's the schooling he'll need to get his second level. Then, he just needs to put in his hours before writing the exams. I'm unsure how long it takes to hear if he gets accepted. The program starts in the fall. I hope he gets in and that it's something he'll enjoy.

Have a great day!
