Hello Everyone,
So I'm mostly over my cold. Back to full work on Thursday and have only a little sniffle since then.
Work week is crazy. The other person in payroll is in the hospital for the week and we're in the second week of payroll. Basically, over a 2 week cycle, we gather all the time from the previous week and the first week of our cycle for processing on the last Friday of the cycle. The problem is that this person handles the electronic hours and I handle the manual hours. We were unable to decipher the corrections he did so we had to start from scratch, doing 2 weeks of work into one. On top of that, my supervisor, who is helping me, is still getting trained up (by me) on the system and this is her first live payroll from start to end. And, we're experimenting with a new reconciliation system.
What this in a nutshell means is some very long days of unpaid OT. I'm salary so the few OT days I have are balanced out over the year and no extra $. Mon was 8-5:30, Tues was 8-5:30 + 1 1/2 hours at home, today will be 8-5:30 + 3 hrs at home and I suspect tomorrow will be similar.
But in the end, everyone will get paid, the reconciliation changes we wanted to implement will be done, auditors will be happier and Karen can have a drink.
Have a great day!

Ok so since I have never worked salery how does that work? Do you store time for later use?
With salary, I get paid a monthly amount, based on an average 40 hr work week. I get the same amount, whether I work 30 hours or 50 hours.
In general it will all work out but especially in winter (our busy season), there is usually extra hours worked. Then, in summer, I tend to get off early on Fridays.
