Hallowe'en costume

Hello Everyone,

So, I've picked out my Hallowe'en costume for this year - I'm a car hop girl! It's for a Hallowe'en party (too short for work). I know it's still September but I ordered it from the US and wasn't sure how long it would take to come up here. They were super fast - less than a week!

I'll need to style the wig and get some bobby socks. Here are some pictures of the costume - I haven't moved it to the bathroom to steam out the wrinkles yet so please keep that in mind.

An interesting thing happened when I put the costume on when it arrived on Friday. I looked in the mirror and the image showed a girl with great looking legs. Yes, it's the fabulous platform saddle shoes that make a huge difference but it shocked me. I love the shape of my calves and ankles but I've always (since a little girl) been self-conscious of my upper legs and knees. I have a tiny bit of muscle that sticks out on the inner part of my leg, just above my knee and in my mind, it makes my legs look very fat.
When I put on the outfit, since I didn't see "Karen", I was able to make a more objective observation of the mirror image. Before this, I never knew I had nice looking legs. Well, that's not completely true - Jerry tells me that but it still takes a bit of convincing. He's done quite well for my body image though - telling me how much he loves that I have curves.
So, qualities I looked for in choosing my costume: 1) bikeable 2) cute
It was a very exciting evening. I told Jerry about my experience but I don't think he really understood the impact it had on me. I've read that men and women view each other differently in the mirror. Men look for all the attractive qualities and women zero in on all the (perceived) flaws. He still smiled and gave me a big kiss (yes, he tries even if I don't make sense to him) and remembered to complement my legs on Saturday.
