Hi Everyone!
Got the ceiling painted (2 coats) yesterday. You wouldn't believe the fiasco that went on. On Friday night, I pulled the horrid linoleum off the wall (it was used behind the kitchen counter). It was covering up some gritty yellow rubber-like substance (I think it was glue at one point) as well as some uneven glue/sealant that was maybe used for tile? Anyways, I sprayed some paint stripper on it to soften the compound and had to scrape for several hours to get the surface even. I have since put two layers of plaster on it and tonight will do a bit more sanding and put on a final plaster layer. The stupid people also used 2" long screws to fasten the curtain rod hooks up (the ones that are sold with 1/2" nails to hand them). They then painted over the top so I had to pry them out and replaster some big holes. I was not impressed.
Anyways, Sunday afternoon rolled around and I pulled out my painting supplies. Guess what I didn't have - a replacement roller! I ended up applying both coats with one of those tiny 6" long rollers. I was quite angry with myself because I was at Walmart on Saturday picking up supplies (and buying Girl Guide cookies!). Tonight I'll be plastering, sanding and cleaning I'll put on my first wall coat on Tuesday.
Both arms are bruised (tiny bruise on my right but my left is pretty cool looking). They don't hurt anymore unless you poke at them.
Have a great day!
